A Siberian cold front continues to stretch across parts of Europe, causing travel disruptions and even claiming more than 50 lives. <br /> The icy blizzard, the coldest to sweep Europe in almost a decade, has forced airports in Scotland, Switzerland, France and Ireland to close.<br />Switzerland is among the worst hit, with the mercury dropping to nearly minus 40 degrees Celsius.<br />Hundreds of motorists across the continent were also left stranded Thursday on snowy highways. <br />The deep freeze is expected to continue as weather authorities forecast a new icy storm, with 100 kilometer-per-hour winds, will fall on Ireland, southwestern England and Wales later Thursday. <br />
