At the TROPS Foundation Benefit, Amelia Alberti interviewed Julia Kulakova, performer, specializing in Persian Dance, and the Art-director of NY Persian Parade.
Julia spoke about origins of Persian Dance, including Zoroastrian Rites and how it became known as the Entertainment Dance in non-industrial world.
Dance is considered to be the full expression of the freedom of the body. Obviously, Persian dance bares the influence of Rumi, who brings up dance as the analogy of the soul uniting with the Universe
Julia performance to live music illustrate her expertise. She also popularizes and teaches Persian dance, which leads to them being interested in the history and culture of Persia and Iran.
Dancing at the NY Persian Parade for over 10 years, Julia takes us behind the scenes, and explains what are the specifics of leading and a group in the Parade and training for dancing for 10 blocks on the street.
Julia encourages to attend NY Persian Parade https://persianparade.com/ , as well as participate in it.
Compare to marathon runners's monotonous movements, Persian dance moves are very detailed and diverse. The 30-40 minutes of constant Parade dancing on the asphalt with beautiful Persian nuances is an endurance workout. Yet the dancers look very poised, graceful and elegant in the video clip from the actual Parade.
Amelia, inspired by the elegance of it, asks for some Persian move for social dancing at the party. The interview turns into a beautiful dancing exchange.
Discover Persian Hands gestures, and learn to showcase yourself in style, which reminded Amelia of Vogue and Voguing dance style.
"Was Madonna inspired by this?"
What do YOU think?
Julia is sure, because Persian hand moves frame the face like portrait frames just like in Voguing.
Interview finishes with Amelia wanting to join NY Persian Parade and dance in the streets with Julia's group.
